Your baby
In the first few days your little one will sleep, wake, feed, pass urine and stool in cycles. They sometimes lose a little weight after birth but this is gained again soon after. Your baby will get into a pattern and many different routines have been written which some parents wish to follow.
Coming to the end of the first 6 weeks it is time to book your 6 week check. This is normally done between 6-8 weeks and is a check up for both mother and baby. Your GP will check you are coping with your new addition and often takes your BP and feels your tummy to make sure your uterus has contracted. They will also take the opportunity to talk about contraception so it is a good idea to think about what suits you and the length of time you may wish to use it before the possibility of having another child. Your baby check will involve the GP undressing your little one and giving them a top to toe assessment, including weight head circumference and height so remember to take your little red book.
