Months 7 - 9
Month 7 (28-31/40)
This is the beginning of the final (third) trimester. Your baby continues to grow and is now almost fully developed. Mums and Dads can now really start preparing for their little one’s arrival. If you haven’t already taken ante-natal classes this it the time to look into booking them. Perhaps a first aid course for expectant and new parents or some relaxing massages for mothers to be too.
Month 8 (32-35/40)
For parents these final months can be hard work as your baby gets bigger. Mothers can experience sleepless nights as your baby doesn’t understand you need to rest too. Some other side effects may occur for example your belly button may pop out, hemorrhoids can develop, hands and feet swell and your abdomen may become itchy, even your eye sight prescription can change. If you are worried about any of these symptoms please visit your Doctor or Midwife. Remember that in nearly all cases all of theses symptoms go completely in the few weeks post delivery of your baby.
Month 9 (36-40/40)
The final count down is here (although your baby may have other ideas!). Make sure your bag is packed ready just in case. It can be uncomfortable at this stage especially with the extra 11-15kg you are carrying. Braxton Hicks contractions start to occur at this time, they are small contractions getting your uterus ready for delivery. Your baby starts to move down into your pelvis and the head will engage at the end of pregnancy. Ligaments loosen and can cause painful hips and pelvis instability. A physiotherapist can help to relieve this pain. It is important to look after yourself and treat yourself, cranial massage is a wonderful way to relax.
Beyond this point is the beginning of a new journey in life. When your baby is ready your Bump will reveal itself and the beginning or extension to your family has arrived. I hope you enjoy every minute of it.
