Some general milestones.
These are the approximate ages when your child will start to develop new skills.
Newborn Sleeps and feeds
May smile back at parents
1½ - 3 months Smiles spontaneously
4-8 months Finger feeds
Smiles at self in mirror
5-7 months Starts chewing
5-10 months Is shy with strangers
6-16 months Drinks from a cup
14-20 months Takes off own clothes
18-38 months Dry nappies during the day
20-50 months Easily separated from mother
32-50 months Able to use cutlery – knife and fork
